About The Engineering Workbench

The Engineering Workbench is a public place where I think, build, learn, and occasionally change my mind.

I’m Vincent Mangelschots, an engineer and technology leader with a background in software development, systems engineering, and product leadership. Over the past two decades, I grew alongside a company from a handful of people into a mature organization, taking on roles ranging from developer to senior management.

I’ve always been deeply curious and largely self-taught. Over the years, I’ve learned and worked with topics such as distributed systems, Kubernetes, Python and Django, home automation, electronics, and PCB design — often simply because I wanted to understand how things really work.

Most of that learning happened quietly, behind the scenes.
Here, it happens in public.

What you’ll find here

This is not a tutorial site, and it’s not a personal diary.
Think of it as a public engineering workbench.

You’ll find:

  • Practical notes on software, systems, and infrastructure
  • Write-ups of things I’m currently building or learning
  • Honest accounts of what worked, what didn’t, and why

The goal is not to appear finished or authoritative, but to be clear, thoughtful, and useful.

Why write in public?

I’ve always enjoyed explaining things and helping others grow. Writing is my way of doing that asynchronously.

If something here helps someone learn something new, then it’s doing its job.
